The development of junior cricket at Solihull Blossomfield is one of our main priorities as we recognise how important it is, for the future success and sustainability of our club, that we have home grown talent in our senior teams.
We are committed to expanding our Junior Boys and Girls Sections, particularly by increasing our involvement with local schools and giving children the opportunity to learn how to play cricket correctly and have fun during the learning process.
If you would like to find out what our coaching and Junior programme is like, please get in touch. All details available on our Contact Us page.
We have close contact with 6 local schools and will support the national Chance to Shine programme with coaching and holding festivals during May and June.
- Boys Cricket
We coach boys from 6 to 16 years of age throughout the year, providing the following:
- 20 weeks of coaching through the Summer, for 2 hours, every Friday evening from 6pm
- 10 weeks of indoor coaching from October to December for 2 hours on Fridays.
- 10 weeks of indoor coaching from January to March for 2 hours on Fridays
We have 4 Junior teams competing in the Warwickshire Cricket Board leagues and the team managers/coaches for these are:
Boys Under15s – Richard Weaver
Boys Under 13 – John Boyce
Boys Under 11s – Stuart Donkin and Ed Thompson
Boys Under 10s – Mark Potter and Josh Higgins
At the Under 9 level, we enter local soft ball cricket festivals, looked after by Richard Weaver.
- Girls Cricket
We formed our Girls Section in 2013, offering structured girls coaching in the area from the ages of 6 to 16 – and we have successfully coached 8 girls to county standard at the last Warwickshire trials.
- John Boyce has just received the Runners Up Coach Award for Girls coaching, from Warwickshire, in recognition of his long term commitment to coaching children and his successes.
- The Girls Coaching team is led by John and comprises:-
- John Boyce
- Delvin Alleyne
- Linda Smitten
We were one of the first clubs in Warwickshire to receive the ECB ClubMark Accreditation in the county and this has been renewed every 3 years. It is awarded to our Club because we have demonstrated that we are fully equipped to look after youngsters and promote cricket to the youth in our community. We have a Child Welfare Officer (Amanda Felton) and implement agreed standards for the welfare and protection of children and have sufficient coaches and assistants to look after all of our juniors.
We greatly appreciate all the support and assistance from the parents of our juniors – we have a dedicated group of coaches but are always looking for more help in a range of different tasks – if you would like to volunteer, please get in touch with Kumar, our Junior Chairman on 07852 860436.
